Summer Sky Attends the Forty-Fifth Annual Texas Association of Addiction Professionals State Conference
Summer Sky attends the 45th Annual TAAP State Conference on Addiction Studies located in San Antonio, Texas this year and it was the largest prevention, addiction treatment, and recovery conference in Texas. The Theme was “Addiction Voted Off the Island Recovery Wins Season 45,” and addiction professionals from across Texas voted addiction off the island this year. The conference was focused on the current “opioid crisis with a special focus on Opioid Addictions in Texas.” Summer Sky Sponsored Neil Scott, the host of the nightly broadcast radio show “Recovery Coast to Coast” which is a nightly broadcast on Clear Channel Radio AM 850 KHHO – Seattle, WA, or streamed online during show hours. Texas Association of Addiction Professionals (TAAP)
TAAP is the state affiliate of NAADAC, The National Association for Addiction Professionals. The organization unties addiction professionals, addiction counselors, prevention specialists, advanced addiction counselors, and other related addiction and recovery specialists to help promote awareness of substance use disorder issues in Texas.
These addiction professionals advocate on behalf of all addiction professionals in the State of Texas at the state and federal levels. Promoting positive change in the area of prevention, treatment, and recovery is one of the primary goals of addiction professionals. During 2018 & 2019, our own President Scott Kelley, LCDC lead the TAAP organization to become the most successful organization for addiction professionals in the State of Texas. TAAP is so important to Texas because it is the only membership organization representing individuals with substance use disorders at the state and federal levels in Texas. The Texas Association of Addiction Professionals or TAAP is an organization that helps protect individuals with substance use disorders by being active in the legislative process in Texas and Washington, DC.
TAAP members are advocates on behalf of its members, people with substance use disorders, and the entire substance use disorder treatment industry. Summer Sky is grateful for the time and energy our own President spent in the last two years helping to fight the opioid epidemic and securing legislation for the citizens of our great State of Texas. TAAP will move forward in 2019, 2020, 2021, and 2022. Our President Scott Kelley will be helping the TAAP Board to increase its efforts to expand parity laws for those with substance use disorders.

National Recovery Month in September
Every September is “Recovery Month,” and Summer Sky helps promote addiction treatment & recovery across Texas. People do recover, and treatment works and saves lives. The Big Texas Rally for Recovery is 9-21-2019 this year. This event will be held at the Globe Life Park, home of the Texas Rangers in Arlington, Texas and if you get an opportunity to attend Summer Sky would like to meet you at this year’s 2019 Big Texas Rally for Recovery.
Our Alumni will be present along with thousands of other Texans from across Texas who will descend upon The Globe Life Park Stadium to join the 23 million other people across the United States promoting recovery. The theme this year is “Together We Are Stronger,” and we are stronger when we come together to promote addiction treatment and recovery.
Summer Sky Annual Alumni Reunion and Celebration
Summer Sky will be celebrating 37 years of Addiction Treatment and Recovery with a celebration event on April 29th, 2023 at The Stephenville City Parks & Recreation Pavilion. This event is open to the public, and you are invited to attend our Annual Alumni Celebration. This year will be an exciting and fun sober event. We will have free entertainment, a free BBQ, a bounce house for kids, speakers, and a special recovery countdown. Bring your family and let others know about this special event.
