Alcohol or Drug Usage
Do you doubt or question your alcohol or drug usage?
Many people with alcohol or drug problems begin to question or rationalize why they drink alcohol or consume drugs. They often experience thoughts of self-doubt or question the amount of alcohol or drugs they are consuming on a daily basis. If you are struggling with thoughts of why you are drinking so much alcohol or why your drug usage has increased lately then a problem with alcohol or drugs is most likely already present in your life.
Alcohol or Drug Usage Considerations:
Do you tell yourself, friends or loved ones that you are quitting and don’t need help for your alcohol or drug usage?
Do you ever find yourself getting embarrassed or find it hard to admit to yourself that you need help? Instead of asking for help do you secretly believe it is a sign of weakness to ask for help?
Do you get upset that you have difficulty stopping your use of alcohol or drugs?
Here are some things to think about:
Normal drinkers do not have to question whether they have a problem or not. Truth be told if you must struggle with the question of whether alcohol and drugs is a problem for you. Then there is a high likelihood that you already have a problem with alcohol or drugs.
We have all heard the saying many times that people on the outside of a situation tend to see more than those within the situation itself when you are drinking too much alcohol or using too many drugs. When others start seeing and saying something about your drinking/drug use then most likely it is a problem, and they do see changes that a person cannot see within themselves.
To want help and admit you have a problem is not a sign of weakness. It is just the opposite. Alcoholism/addiction is a disease, and it affects every person at some point, whether it is self, family, friends, co-workers, kids. It is more common than HIV or STDs. Not every family in the world has been exposed to or has known someone with those diseases, but every family in the world is more likely to know someone first hand that has experienced alcoholism or addiction. We have all heard the saying, “It takes a stronger person to walk away.” Walk away from the alcohol and drugs and admit that you have a problem and let us help you begin fixing it by asking for help.
The Cost of Addiction:
The cost of getting help can be expensive, depending on where and how you get help. But what price is your alcohol/addiction costing you now? How much are you spending on getting your substance, how much downtime does it cost you, and what was the cost of legal issues if you get in trouble. You can easily get arrested for possession, DUI, DWI, or PI. What is the cost of medical bills compared to CHF, liver failure, cirrhosis, high blood pressure, hep C, etc.?
Many eventually experience car wrecks, divorces, lost jobs, jail stays, bonds, attorneys, CPS taking your kids, custody battles, etc.?
