Summer Sky is a 54-bed facility offering inpatient chemical dependency treatment since 1985. We are looking to expand our medical and clinical departments.

Now seeking LCDC, LPC, LMSW, and Counselor Interns

 Position Responsibilities 

Looking for _*Case Manager*_ who is licensed as an Licensed Chemical Dependency Counselor (LCDC) by the Texas Department of State Health Services.
Case Manager’s provide care for clients on an individual basis as well as in group and educational settings. Case Managers will assess new clients, create treatment plans and provide clinical documentation on each individual client. Schedules do include weekends.
Summer Sky is an inpatient/residential substance use disorder treatment center.

Required license or certification:
  • Licensed Chemical Dependency Counselor

Looking for _*IOP Counselor*_ who is licensed as an Licensed Chemical Dependency Counselor (LCDC) by the Texas Department of State Health Services. Provide care for clients on an individual basis as well as in group and educational settings. Assess new clients, create treatment plans and provide clinical documentation on each individual client. Schedule is for four days a week. Summer Sky is an inpatient, residential and outpatient substance use disorder treatment center.

Required experience:
  • Counseling: 1 year
Required license or certification:
  • LCDC

Looking for LCDC Interns who have 2,000 or more hours completed in their internship. Must be licensed as an intern by the Texas Department of State Health Services with a minimum of an Associate's Degree or working towards.

Clinical interns work to assist other licensed staff members in providing client care while obtaining the training needed to become a licensed counselors. Clinical Interns will care for clients on an individual basis as well as in group and educational settings. Interns will assess new clients, create treatment plans and provide clinical documentation on each individual client. 
Summer Sky is an inpatient/residential substance use disorder treatment center.

Summer Sky is looking for Utilization Review Specialist to provide assistance with the advocating for utilization of patient resources.  Must hold a professional license in Texas.  Two years experience in CD required.  Send resume to jobs@summersky.us

POSITION SUMMARY/RESPONSIBILITIES

Responsible for all facets of the Utilization Review process on assigned case load including preauthorization when required, continued care review and assisting in discharge planning by identifying covered aftercare options if requested.  Participates in special Quality Improvement projects as assigned.  Must communicate professionally and effectively both verbally and in written form with facility management, staff and all outside contract

EDUCATION/LICENSURE

Must have a Texas LCDC, LPC, LMSW, RN, or LVN license.  A minimum of two years experience in chemical dependency treatment is required.  Experience in advocating for appropriate utilization of patient resources is desirable.  Prior Utilization Review experience is preferred.  Excellent verbal and written communication skills and the ability to work with other departments within the organization required.  



Nurse Practitioner (NP) 

POSITION SUMMARY/RESPONSIBILITIES

Serves as member of health care team that provides primary and/or specialized health care in an inpatient chemical dependency treatment facility.  Assists the physician with initial assessments, mental status exams, prescribe medications and educate on benefits, risks and side effects, educate patients on substance use disorders and associated illnesses.

EDUCATION

A Registered Professional Nurse who is prepared for advanced nursing practice by virtue of knowledge and skills obtained through an accredited post basic or advanced educational program of study acceptable to the Board of Nurse Examiners. A Master's degree in nursing is preferred. Three years of nursing experience is required and two years of supervision/management is preferred. 

Must be currently licensed as a Registered Nurse in Texas and credentialed by the State to practice as an Advanced Nurse Practitioner. Prescriptive authority is a must.


Licensed Vocational Nurse (LVN)

POSITION SUMMARY/RESPONSIBILITIES

Provides skilled nursing care to all Summer Sky patients, under the direct supervision of the Director of Nursing. Administers medication and treatments to all patients according to policies and procedures, and documents accurately all procedures, observations, interventions, assessments, medications, treatments, supplies, etc. in the patient's medical record. Provides direct patient care to assigned patients in the Detox Unit. 

EDUCATION/LICENSURE

Currently licensed as a L.V.N. by the Texas Board of Nursing.  Must have or attain CPR certification.  One year of general nursing experience and/or one year of nursing experience in psychiatric/substance abuse is preferred.  If recovering, must have a minimum of one year of continuous sobriety. Must be able to walk across campus multiple times during a shift as required.  Must be able to sit, bend, stoop and lift up to 20 pounds.

Residential Advocates

POSITION SUMMARY/RESPONSIBILITIES

Assists with milieu management under the direction of the Clinical Director and RA Supervisor with specific emphasis on monitoring patient attendance at required program activities, monitoring and providing direction/redirection to patients regarding the structure of the program; modeling and supporting the patient’s recovery process; and providing oral and written reports continually while on shift. 

EDUCATION/LICENSURE

High school diploma or GED required.  Must have the ability to interact warmly and professionally with patients while maintaining appropriate boundaries.  Must have the ability to walk across campus on a continuous basis throughout shift.  Must be able to sit, stand, bend, stoop and lift up to 20 pounds.  Excellent oral communication skills are required.
