Summer Sky’s Adolescent Treatment Program was developed to provide the highest quality of addiction treatment in the United States. Great care has been taken to develop a program that meets the individual needs of our adolescent population. Evidence based practices are used in all aspects of addressing our adolescents addictions and introducing them to the world of recovery is a task that we honor at Summer Sky. The adolescent program is not your typical institutional type of treatment program. We have incorporated many different types of therapy to our program. Some of the therapies are cognitive behavioral therapy; Rational Emotive Therapy, and Equine therapy. We introduce our adolescents to practical 12-step modalities that they can actual use in the real world. We stress the importance of social skills and life skills while helping each teen develop a relapse prevention plan that is very easy for them to follow. The family support system is incorporated into the relapse prevention plan to help with holding the adolescent accountable to the recovery process.

Summer Sky is dedicated to all youth, our most important national treasure and the hope of our future, and to all families who are devoted to the protection of their teen’s health and well-being. Today substance abuse continues to disrupt their health, affect the attainment of developmental tasks, impair identity development, and make it difficult for youth to negotiate the demands of transition from adolescence to adulthood. We have a very unique approach for a very unique population. No two adolescents’ recover at the same rate or speed so it is vital that each adolescent that enters our program be properly assessed to find out exactly what each adolescent needs before effective treatment can begin. Each adolescent is seen by top notch addiction professionals that have dedicated there lives to helping teens recover from addiction. Summer Sky understands that families are looking for solutions to a very difficult problem.
Since 1985 Summer Sky has treated male and female adolescents. In that time we have developed and implemented the best of research based treatment modalities to address the different needs of each adolescent that enters into our program. We are unlike any other adolescent facility in the United States. Many aspects of our treatment set us apart from other programs. One amazing program service is our Equine Therapy Program. The Equine therapy facility is hosted by Tarleton State University and is a member of the American Equine Association. Our adolescents will have access to a national recognized Equine facility.
The benefits of using Equine therapeutic approach’s helps with different behavioral issues, depression, anxiety, low self-esteem, ADD/ADHD, Post Traumatic Stress Disorder, and relationship problems.
Adolescent Family Program
To provide basic information on specific areas, educate patients and families on more effective coping styles. Explain the topics as group begins teach the compassion of characteristic of a functional and dysfunctional family. Healthy family characteristics the walls of defense the family notice use for protection from pain. Help families to define role they play in family, community, work and school and to gain insight on what holes are confused and the boundaries within each role. Learn how the determination of the family occurs, gaining knowledge on how the grief age is experienced, and the impact of loss in the family until and to explore roles taken on by family until and to explore roles taken on by family members.
